Celebrating the life-enhancing power of dressing and choosing what to wear.

Twelve distinctive individuals including poet Tayi Tibble, mental health advocate Sir John Kirwan, and K’road chronicler Six, have fashioned their personal appearance in a way that expresses their identity, their culture, and their truth. Vibrant life-size portraits by award-winning Samoan/New Zealand photographer Edith Amituanai invite you to meet and engage with the person and reflect on how you fashion your own story.

to fashion: street style experience

Now it's your turn to share your look. Alongside the exhibition, the Fashion Museum will be hosting two street style photography experiences on Saturday 19th and Sunday 27th March from 10am – 1pm. You are encouraged ‘to fashion’ an outfit that expresses who you are and step in front of the lens of professional photographer, Denise Baynham.

Images will be on display on the Fashion Museums’ social media channels over the period of the exhibition and provide a snapshot of Aotearoa style, culture and identity in 2022.
